ECKHAUSAdmissions Consulting

From 9th grade to move-in day.

My all-inclusive, holistic College Admissions service is tailored to meet your specific needs. And I consciously limit the number of families I work with so you can always feel free to call, email, or text as any questions - big or little - arise.

The process

The college admissions process should be exciting - a moment of introspection with an eye towards a future brimming with possibility and potential. Of course, if you ask the average teenager or parent, the first word that typically comes to mind is stressful. But it doesn't have to be. I've spent the past 20 years helping hundreds of families to navigate this transition with ease. My goal is to empower college applicants to recognize their strengths, find their unique voice, and embrace happiness as a fundamental criteria in plotting out the next four years of their lives.

9th & 10th grade

During the early years of high school, I typically meet with families 1-3 times per year to discuss broader strategic planning including academic courses, potential extracurricular opportunities, summer programs, passion projects, research, internships, etc. Big picture, we'll shape your academic profile and plan out meaningful experiences, setting you up to tell the story of how the work you've done has impacted your life, your community, and your future goals.

Want more direction in 10th grade? For families who feel they'll need a bit more hand-holding or story shaping, I offer an add-on: 4-5 one-on-one calls and specific planning strategy work and follow-up to help with broader strategic planning and potential extracurricular opportunities, summer programs, passion projects, research, internships, etc. Big picture, helping to develop experiences that showcase meaningful work that kids have done on their own and tell the story of how that work has impacted their lives and communities.

11th grade

We'll start early, laying the foundations for the college application process and developing a clear plan for the rest of the year.

1st semester · 1-2 meetings total

Together, we'll:

  • Plot out a personalized 12th grade course schedule
  • Develop a comprehensive standardized testing plan that plays to your strengths
  • Create an initial resume and strategize summer & extracurricular plans
  • Map out a plan for college visits
  • Review and complete application process for appropriate summer programs (if applicable)
2nd semester · 1-2 meetings per month, January-June

Who you are, and why

It's time to start thinking about who you are as a student, a college applicant, and a human. Over the next six months, I'll help you figure out what you might want to study in college, where you might hope to study it, and, most importantly, why. Together, we'll work on:

  • Researching colleges and crafting an initial list
  • Structured self-inquiry work to begin sketching out ideas for personal essays
  • Major-driven self-inquiry work and focused academic program research
  • Developing relationships with teachers & school counseling staff
  • Finalizing exciting and enriching summer plans
  • Confirming a standardized testing plan that makes sense for you

12th grade · 2-4 meetings per month, beginning in July

This is it! Starting in July, as applications go live and things get real, we'll build on the work we've done to stay calm and ahead of the game. Over the next few months, I'll manage your entire process, tracking deadlines and to-do's and providing support, mentorship, and encouragement for the whole family, every step of the way. Together, we'll execute a comprehensive, individualized plan to make sure everything gets done on time and nothing gets missed. I'll be there to:

Create and oversee a week-by-week calendar of to-do items
Support and provide feedback for brainstorming every essay
Review, edit, and polish every essay, supplement, admissions email, etc.
Prepare for interviews and college visits
Make sure each application is fully completed - and, when necessary, click SEND together
Provide support for decisions on Early Decision, Early Action, Early Decision 2, etc.
Navigate the waitlist, deferral, acceptance & appeal processes (if necessary)
Help you make your final decision and ease the transition from high school to college

Every high school senior is more complex and interesting than a GPA, a test score, and a checklist of accomplishments. Like you, your well-crafted college application should be three dimensional, showcasing your humanity, your aspirations, and your potential. I'm excited to have the chance to help you bring that to life.
